An Operating System is the software which communicates with the hardware of a computer and is the intermediary between all the applications and the hardware, which includes peripheral devices such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transmits requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the contact is done through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Just like a personal computer, hosting servers also have an Operating System which serves as a host for all of the software installed on them, which includes script apps or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, etc. A virtual machine can be created on a physical one, so you can install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment compared to the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Hosting

We provide three different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs you can find and we offer all three of them instead of just one since we realize that you might want to set up some software that has specific requirements regarding the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there're different software programs you can install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you would like to use one and for this reason we offer multiple Control Panels as well. In case you decide that you want some other OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you want. In addition, we offer an optional service to maintain the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting

In case you decide to get one of our dedicated servers, you shall find three Operating Systems on the registration page as we want to give you a broader choice regarding the system environment on the server as different apps could have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and benefit from a reliable and risk-free web hosting service. Based on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System in case the one you have selected in the beginning does not meet the requirements of the software that you'd like to run. We can also update your OS routinely in order to keep it as secure as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
